Interesting/Uncommon Baby Names Through the Years: 1930

(This is a list of baby names I found on the top 1000 of the social security baby names' list. These names are names that I think are uncommon, unheard of or are ready for a comeback, and I think would be interesting to see on a baby today. All name meanings were found on behindthename.com.)

1. Elmira- number 883 in 1930, it is a shortened form of Edelmira, which is the Spanish feminine form of Adelmar meaning "noble" and "famous". It is not currently in the top 1000 for 2015.
2. Imelda- number 871 in 1930, it is a form of Irmild meaning "whole" and "battle". It is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.
3. Lolita- number 741 in 1930, it is a diminutive of Lola, which is a diminutive of Dolores meaning "sorrow". It is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.
4. Zora- number 731 in 1930, it means "dawn, aurora" and it is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.
5. Lavon- number 602 in 1930, it may be a made up name and it is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.
6. Twila- number 528 in 1930, the meaning is unknown, but it could be from the word twilight. It is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.
7. Rosetta- number 322 in 1930, it is a diminutive of Rosa which is either a Latin form of Rose, meaning "fame" and "kind, sort, type" or it may come from the name Roza meaning "fame". It is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.
8. Florence- number 38 in 1930, it means "prosperous, flourishing" and it is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.
9. Lois- number 17 in 1930, it possibly means "more desirable" or "better" and it is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.

In this post, I am going to talk about baby boy names that end in s and my obsession with them. I will be ranking these names on a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being a name I would love to use on my child and 1 being a name I would never use on my child.
