Family Favorites Friday

My family and I are going to tell our favorite names from the 1880's post.

Susanna Marie
Boys:
1. Luther- I really love L names and I love the associations with Martin Luther, figure in the Protestant Reformation, and Martin Luther King Jr., the leader of the Civil Rights Movement. Luther also has a nice meaning and it just sounds handsome to me.
2. Abner- It has an amazing meaning, "my father is light", you cannot get a much better meaning than that. It also sounds strong to me and I think you could use the nickname "Abe" for it.
3. Myron- I am not entirely sure why I love this name. It is easy to pronounce and spell and it sounds handsome.
Girls:
1. Ida- I have loved this name for a long time, because Ida honors my Grammie. Her middle name is Idabel.
2. Roena- It sounds so unique and beautiful to me and I love the nickname "Ro".
3. Cleora- It has two possible, wonderful meanings. I have always liked Cleo, but it does not sound complete on its own. Cleora is a great choice if you love Cleo like me.
(My sister) Shelby
My sister loves names that are not in the top 1000. She likes names that are unique and different, but are still not too out there.
Boys:
1. Erastus- She likes this name because it has a great meaning, "beloved". She thinks Erastus sounds manly and unique.
2. Luther- She also likes the associations with this name that I mentioned above and she likes the meaning as well.
3. Obed- She likes that it is a biblical name with a great meaning, "servant, worshipper". She thinks the nickname "Obbie" would be really cute.
Girls:
1. Theda- She likes that it begins with "Th", because not many names do. She thinks it sounds short and sweet. She likes that it is easy to pronounce and she loves the meaning, "gift of God".
2. Cleora- She thinks this name rolls off the tongue and loves the nickname "Cleo".
3. Lucina- She likes the association with light. She thinks this name is very different, but is still easy to pronounce and spell.
My Dad
He did not pick from the 1880's list, these names are just some of his overall favorite names.
1. Stephen- This is my brother's name
2. Thomas- This is a family name on my dad's side
3. Roger
4. Gary
5. Paul
6. John
7. Michael/Mike
My Mom
Boys:
1. Thaddeus- She likes the association with the apostle in the Bible and it has a great meaning. She thinks the nickname "Thad" is cute.
2. Hyrum- She likes the meaning of it and she likes the sound of it.
3. Leander- She likes the meaning and the nickname "Lee".
Girls:
1. Althea- She does not know why she likes this name just that it sounds nice.
2. Eulah- This name reminds her of the name Beulah, which reminds her of a song about Beulah land, Beulah means heaven in the song. Also, this name sounds nice.
3. Ida- She also likes that it honors her mother like I do and she thinks it sounds super cute.
