Favorites from Harry Potter

by Susanna Marie This is a list of my favorite boys' names from the Harry Potter series. J. K. Rowling did an amazing job of naming her characters and many of these names are great, usable names. Boys: 1. Alastor - This is one of my favorite boys' names with a great character association. It means "avenger" in Greek and it is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015. 2. Aberforth - this name has an unknown meaning, but I think it is a really cool name. It is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015. 3. Fred - Fred and George are my favorite characters from this series. It is a short form of a few possible names with several possible meanings: "peaceful ruler", "elf" and "counsel", "strength", or "will, desire". It is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015. 4. George - It means "farmer, earthworker" in Greek and it is currently ranked 136 in 2015. 5. Ollivander - It is a real surname and there are several

by Susanna Marie This is a list of my favorite girls' names from the Harry Potter series. J. K. Rowling did an amazing job naming her characters and many of the names are awesome and unique names that would definitely be usable as baby names. Girls: 1. Hermione - I couldn't do a top ten harry potter name's without mentioning this name. This name is from Greek mythology and is the name of the wife of Leontes in Shakespeare's "The Winter Tale". It is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015. 2. Lavender - This is one of my all time favorite girls' names. It is the name of the plant and the color. It is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015. 3. Luna - She is one of my favorite characters from this series and this is a beautiful name. It means "the moon" in Latin and she was the Roman goddess of the moon. It is currently ranked 110 for 2015. 4. Rowena - The meaning is uncertain, but it possibly means "fame" and "joy, bliss".

Name of the Week

Ursa Ursa is the name of two constellations: Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. It means "Bear" in Latin. Ursa has never been in the top 1000 in the United States. It would make a great alternative to names like Ava, Ella, Leah, and Nora. I personally love this name. If anyone wants to you can comment below and tell me what you think of this name.

Gilead Gilead is a biblical place name meaning "Monument of testimony". Gilead has never been in the top 1000 in the United States. Gilead sounds handsome and has "Gil" as a possible nickname.
