Favorites from Harry Potter

by Susanna Marie
This is a list of my favorite girls' names from the Harry Potter series. J. K. Rowling did an amazing job naming her characters and many of the names are awesome and unique names that would definitely be usable as baby names.
Girls:
1. Hermione- I couldn't do a top ten harry potter name's without mentioning this name. This name is from Greek mythology and is the name of the wife of Leontes in Shakespeare's "The Winter Tale". It is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.
2. Lavender- This is one of my all time favorite girls' names. It is the name of the plant and the color. It is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.
3. Luna- She is one of my favorite characters from this series and this is a beautiful name. It means "the moon" in Latin and she was the Roman goddess of the moon. It is currently ranked 110 for 2015.
4. Rowena- The meaning is uncertain, but it possibly means "fame" and "joy, bliss". It is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.
5. Molly- This is a classic name with a wonderful character as a namesake. It is a diminutive of Mary, which has an uncertain meaning with several possible meanings: "sea of bitterness", "rebelliousness", "wished for child", "beloved" or "love". It is currently ranked 144 for 2015.
6. Hepzibah- It means "my delight is in her" in Hebrew and it is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.

8. Septima- It means "seventh" in Latin and it is currently not in the top 1000 for 2015.

10. Helena- It is a form of Helen meaning "torch" or "corposant" and it is currently ranked 534 for 2015.

Family Favorites Friday

My family and I are going to tell our favorite names from the 1880's post. Susanna Marie Boys: 1. Luther- I really love L names and I love the associations with Martin Luther, figure in the Protestant Reformation, and Martin Luther King Jr., the leader of the Civil Rights Movement. Luther also has a nice meaning and it just sounds handsome to me. 2. Abner- It has an amazing meaning, "my father is light", you cannot get a much better meaning than that. It also sounds strong to me and I think you could use the nickname "Abe" for it. 3. Myron- I am not entirely sure why I love this name. It is easy to pronounce and spell and it sounds handsome. Girls: 1. Ida- I have loved this name for a long time, because Ida honors my Grammie. Her middle name is Idabel. 2. Roena- It sounds so unique and beautiful to me and I love the nickname "Ro". 3. Cleora- It has two possible, wonderful meanings. I have always liked Cleo, but it does not sound comp...

The Ultimate Baby Name Tag

1. What is your own name and do you like it? My name is Susanna Marie. I love my first name Susanna, it sounds beautiful, has tons of nickname options, and has a wonderful meaning, "Lily". I don't really like my middle name, Marie, it is extremely common, and it doesn't sound very nice. The meaning of Marie is debatable, but some of the possible meanings are not nice. 2. If you have children, what are their names and how did you come up with them? I don't have any children, so on to the next question. 3. If you have a baby boy right now what would you name him? I would probably name him Orion Zephyr, nickname Oz. I love this combo so much and the nickname Oz is so adorable.  4. If you had a baby girl right now what would you name her? I would probably name her Briley Rose. I have loved this name for a long time. I don't know why I love Briley so much, this name doesn't really resemble my usual name style. Roses are my favorite flowers and I ...
